Hey y'all! If you don't know me already, my name is Katelynn Summers, and I am a licensed Cosmetologist in the state of Texas. Ever since I was 8 years old I've been coloring my hair. Once I turned 11, I started wearing lipstick & mascara just because I thought I was SO cute. (Not going to lie, I was pretty cute). When I hit freshman year of high school, special effects makeup peaked my interest, which later led to abstract makeup, and eventually beauty makeup- all the while I still loved hair color & styling. Later in 2016, I began freelancing as a makeup artist & hair stylist, taking on prom parties & brides for their weddings... I was getting so good at doing makeup I then considered myself professional. Fast forward to August 19, 2019 & I am now a licensed Cosmetologist, educated by Aveda, from the Aveda Instutute in Dallas.
After working in a salon while going through cosmetology school, I realized I didn't want to necessarily work for someone else. I didn't want my worth as an artist to get lost in the mix with others, I didn't want to give up on the clients I have now, just to assist under another stylist for a couple of years. I didn't want to work on somebody else's dreams, when I could be actively working on my own. I wanted to start my own business. Risky? Yes. Expensive? Oh, hell yes. Worth it? We'll see, but I know it will be. After a lot of back & forth with myself, friends, family, and other stylists, I finally decided I'm going to regret this if I don't try. So guys, here I am trying. I have put my whole heart and soul into my very own business & I am so thrilled and proud to give you guys my all. I've spent months, sleepless nights, and any spare moments I had planning & organizing for my business, so it can be just right. If you know me, you know I'm a perfectionist. It couldn't just be right for me, but for you guys too.
It's crazy how I use to dream of this time in my life, and now I'm living my dream. I appreciate everyone who has been a part of this journey with me, and I'm excited to grow and learn through this process.
Love y'all always.
